Have you ever had that sense of relief, after a busy or challenging time??….of noticing, “Hey, right now, I’m alright” …well, I’m starting to become more aware of noticing that sense…and the surprise is….really, I’m alright most of the time… I started noticing this after reading a column, “Notice that you’re alright right now” , by Rick Hanson (Plant Flowers, Pull Weeds etc), in Huffington post …
A variation, with some words from “Loving-kindness” phrases…
And another variation….the idea of “right now, I’m alright”, as part of a flowing concept, like a river (youtube rapid sequence/stillshot video of a beautiful Washington river, by my daughter Julie)…moving, winding, flowing, smooth spots, rapids, variations…
Becoming aware of being “alright again” may have been in the 4 year old girl’s mind when she made that enthusiastic comment….“Stop! Stop everybody! I’m happy now! “. She was back to feeling “alright” again…a welcome relief.
Sometimes, it’s a matter of learning to pause and notice the positives….that “Right now, I’m alright….”
Update: July 26….I’m on vacation near Santa Fe, New Mexico and right now, I’m REALLY alright…I’m spending time with very special friends in New Mexico and…. for the first time in 5 days….I actually found some internet access, so I can actually update my blogs. (I’m pulling up images from previous posts…ones I really like) I’m in a public library in the middle of the Pojoaque Native American Tribal Lands…a really wonderful little library with 10 computers for public use. And this afternoon…an added bonus….a children’s author will be speaking at this library…. about her 2 latest books about Tibetan children’s stories. We’re also having a lovely time this week, visiting with our friends…
so, right now,
I’m much more alright than just a bit alright…
I’m lots of alright… : )
Anyone else have some “Right now, I’m alright” ideas to add here?
Thank you, (once again), for simple words of wisdom that make a day, and a life, that much more meaningful.
Your post reminds me of a favorite author, Eckhart Tolle.
Tolle wrote, “The Power of Now” and “A New Earth.”
**Here is my favorite of his quotes.
“Forget about your life situation and pay attention to your life. Your life situation exists in time. Your life is now. Your life situation is mind-stuff. Your life is real.”
Enjoy your day!
I’m happy to hear that the ideas resonated with you…and for letting me know that. Thanks also for the Ekhart Tolle quote…I try soooooo hard to live more in the “now”, but it’s such a big shift to make…but, i just keep pulling myself back, again and again.
