“An Appreciation Jar”….what one appreciates, appreciates… recognizing and nurturing the positives … Nurturing Thursdays

appreciation jar nurturing the positives

noticing, nurturing and encouraging
positive qualities in oneself and others

~

I created an “appreciation jar”  and some appreciation “pages”  last year,  to encourage myself  to become more aware of the many positive qualities that I see each day in myself and others… qualities that may often go unnoticed or unappreciated.

And so, learning  to shift and deliberately bring more awareness to the abundance of  wonderful positives… appreciating them and nurturing the conscious awareness of them in each of our lives.

“What one appreciate appreciates”…the more we bring these positives to awareness, the more they will be nurtured and grow.

~

Some positive “qualities” to become more aware of…
qualities we all have…
pausing each day,
observing, reflecting, remembering, acknowledging, appreciating
nurturing the positives

~

appreciation jar qualities to notice

keeping track
perhaps jotting down observations and appreciations each evening,
noticing the abundant positives in our lives each day,
in ourselves and each other,
bringing those appreciations to a more conscious level of awareness,
encouraging….appreciating….nurturing…
nurturing the positives

~

appreciation, what we appreciate appreciates

~

~
And so…
“an appreciation jar”
to notice the positives in daily situations,
in others and in ourselves,
to recognize and acknowledge them,
to appreciate and nurture them,
to develop and  use them in more settings and situations….
to pause, notice, appreciate,
nurturing the positives

  2. I think this is a wonderful way for us to remember the many positives that happen to us in our lives. It seems that a visual or concrete reminder is all we need sometimes. Great Nurturing post !!!!.

  3. t’s so easy not to recognise those qualities we take for granted and focus on we don’t particularly like about ourselves and others. So this visual reminder is a brilliant way of turning that around and nurturing appreciation on a daily basis. Thank you so much 🙂

    • Yes, it’s easy to not recognize the positives…and so to try to shift into doing that….visual reminders are helpful…and I like it when they’re “pretty” looking too….gentle colors and all…I’m so happy the ideas resonated with you… 🙂

I posted a couple of New Year’s ago about an “appreciation jar” for the entire year — and looking at its contents when those moments of encouragement were needed and then again as part of a New Year’s Eve ritual … I LOVE the summary here!! 😀 THANK YOU for being YOU and linking. You are a gift to us.

    • What a special tradition you have! I still have the full glass with those little “appreciations” in it.
      Thank you, Becca….
I printed out and taped up several copies of the one page list of qualities/patterns…. those “qualities” are similar to positive habitual reactions/patterns that are available to each of us…so helpful to keep that positive reminder in view.
