An afternoon in the redwoods… “my little corner of the world”… beauty, quiet, reflection

I love taking
walks in the bogs with Robin,
through wildflowers with Joss and Roberta
along the shore with Terri and Nancy….
and so many beautiful spots with so many others….
…today…
I went to one of my favorite spots…
the redwoods
….welcome to ….
“my little corner of the world”

On summer Wednesday mornings,
I go to a meditation sitting group at Spirit Rock
and after the morning,
I drive a few minutes further
to a wonderful little state park…
a redwood park,
with a beautiful little creek running through the middle of it

I always take some blankets, a pillow, lots of good books
no “real” camera today, just an iphone camera
along with a yummy lunch
….and nestle in…
in the midst of the redwoods
a few hours of
quiet, peacefulness and tranquility
ahhh…
nothing needs to be any nicer…

The view from the blanket
looking down toward the creek
the sound of the gurgling little rapids
just down the hill

Looking around
…a sense of wonder….
soooooo beautiful and stately

I love to just lay back
and stare up into the greens of the  canopy…
to the sun
to the sky…

After awhile…
I do get up and walk around…
and wonder how it could have happened
that a girl from a small, remote New Hampshire milltown
who first heard that song when she was 12 years old
“This land is your land….from the redwood forest….”
ever made it to these redwood forests
a special soul soothing spot
~
the seeds were planted in that 12  year old’s mind

I don’t think that girl
…me…
would have ever  imagined
that someday
those seeds would sprout
and she would actually nestle into those mature redwood forests

….butterflies are free…
…and it turns out…
so can we be

emerging from cocoons…
so happy to fly free

~

What a joy to behold
Are they going up to the sky?
Or coming down into the earth?

today…in the land of
“quietly content”

“quietly content”
…in my little corner of the world….

~

~

…dream along with me…
in my little corner of the world
welcome to
…my little corner of the world…

What a beautiful place! Thank you for taking us along with you. It reminds me of Muir Woods, a place I visited once and would love to visit again. The redwoods are amazing. đŸ™‚

    • Oh, Robin…so happy I could take others along for a little walk….(well, I spent much of my time staring up/out at the greens and the sky)…your walks have been so restorative for me….
Muir Woods has far more big/huge trees than this little park….if one walks further into Muir Woods, one can get to those quiet spots too….redwoods have an essence to them that is remarkable…
