October: To everything, there is a season…

There have been so many seasons in my own life since I first heard this song in the mid “60’s…I would never have imagined then that life would hold such a variety of seasons….

Judy Collins and Peter Seeger  1966From Wikipedia: “Turn! Turn! Turn! (to Everything There Is a Season)”, often abbreviated to “Turn! Turn! Turn!”, is a song adapted entirely from the Book of Ecclesiastes in the Bible (with the exception of the last line) and put to music by Pete Seeger in 1959. Seeger waited until 1962 to record his own version of it, releasing the song on his The Bitter and the Sweet album on Columbia Records. ”

I’ve always loved that song. Daylight saving started today for us and while not a season change exactly, it sort of is as we get to enjoy the summer months a little more because of it.

    • Ah….there is a season of light, indeed…and you’re going toward more light…with those of us in the northern hemisphere leaving the light…to everything there is a season…sigh…. I love the longer days of light in summer!

Love this song by the Byrds. It allows me to travel back in time . . . and I’m 40 years younger. 😀

I do love that song and it has lyrics and rhythm that stays in your head… I remember singing the refrain over and over again… Turn, Turn, Turn… Fabulous! 🙂

    • The lyrics have especially been staying in my head….and unexpectedly leading to lots of thoughts about what actually goes into various “seasons” within a life…something I haven’t thought that much about before…and still seem to need lots more thought about…I’m beginning to see that we may have more influence than we realize over the “parts, pieces, causes and conditions” of various reactions, tempos and kinds of seasons… So…a time for pondering, it seems. : )
