An Irish blessing

An Irish blessing….a long ago wedding gift from my aunt, a blessing that hangs above our bed, nestled warmly into a scarf, resting upon a textured tapestry of comfort…extending the wishes and blessings to all…loving kindness wishes….combining multiple traditions, numerous cultures, universal wishes…

May the road rise to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face
The rains fall soft upon your fields
And until we meet again
May God hold you in the palm of his hand
~
May we all feel…
happy and contented,
healthy and strong,
safe and protected
and living with ease…

“May the Road Rise to Meet You” … a heartwarming and beautiful song, using the words of the Irish Blessing, written and sung by Roger McGuinn, formerly of The Byrds

Oh, that Irish wind…sometimes at our backs….other times from varied directions….moved by the winds of the Irish spirits… Kathy (Pocket Perspectives) in Ireland, July 2013, sitting on the coast of the island of Inisheer, one of the Irish Aran Islands…. “dancing scarf” blowing freely in the Irish winds…
being moved by the winds of the Irish spirits….

……..Moved by the winds of……
Celtic spirituality….
legends, myths and mysteries
The spirit of the Irish people…
robust kindness, warmth, depth, hospitality
The history….
millions of joys, millions of sorrows, millions of loving hearts
Tenderly beautiful nature….
trees, grasses, rocks, hills, valleys, waters, spirits…
….Moving and inspiring….
the tender hearts and spirits of those who pause here

Wishing you all a very Happy St. Patrick’s Day…
May the road rise to meet each of you,
May the winds blow favorably, in whatever directions may be of benefit,
…carrying warmest blessings and protections…
to the hearts of all

Such a beautiful message, photos and song this St. Patrick’s Day. Thank you for all of it. Are our arms big enough to embrace it all?

Indeed…our arms are plenty big enough… our embrace is plenty wide enough. Warmest wishes to you on this St. Patrick’s Day.
…that needlepoint was given to my husband and me by my Aunt Okie, the one who is still writing at 97 years old. I think it was stitched by another cousin. http://poemsbyokie.wordpress.com/2013/03/17/its-the-hat-me-father-wore-an-irish-poem-and-song/
