“Life is so generous a giver….” Fra. Giocondo, Christmas Eve, 1513

A selection, below,  from Weekly Quotes, from Linda Graham, Recovering Resilience

~

“Fra Giovanni Giocondo (c.1435-1515) was a Renaissance pioneer, accomplished as an architect, engineer, antiquary, archaeologist, classical scholar, and Franciscan friar. Today we remember him most for his reassuring letter to Countess Allagia Aldobrandeschi on Christmas Eve, 1513, a perennial favorite in these weekly quotes.” weekly quotes, Resources for Recovering Resilience, Linda Graham

(added several hours later)
A photo of some rainbow lights shining on one of the printed pages. That page was hanging from a lamp, in the vue-room, next to a chair I was sitting in. The light was coming through a crystal, hanging in the south facing window behind me…a continuing fascination each day,  as I  watch where the rainbow lights light.   Ahhhhhh…the joys of watching the meandering path of the rainbow lights.  Ahhhhh….the de-lightful rainbow lights… honoring, learning from and appreciating the wisdom of these lights.

“to see we only have to look…I beseech you to look!”
thank you …  I see  …

    • Thank you Carol….as you also are so generous with your words, photos and ideas… and yes…wishes for merry and bright Christmases, to you and to all beings around the world…

I mentioned in the comment to Leah, above, that the images and letter are also on Reflections…and the deeper blue background colors on Reflections feel to me a bit like the message coming to us through “time”… messages of love and generosity traveling through the ages… really pretty … http://reflectionsfromafriend.wordpress.com/

It’s beautiful to catch a glimpse of a man’s soul from so long ago. I love what you did to the letter with the rainbow graphics. Happy Holiday, Kathy!

    • Marie, isn’t it so remarkable to glimpse that man’s soul and the warmth of their friendship…very special. And those rainbow lights…I had hung the excerpts from that lamp, so I could read and reflect on the wisdom in them, and keep reminding myself of those ideas. The prism rainbow lights have been making surprise “landings” on other special items in the room, but I hadn’t realized they would land on this page…and then on those specific words…what an inspiring surprise that was! Happy Holidays to you, Marie…wishing you deep happiness, beauty and serenity.
