A special and insightful selection,
written just last month, by Kathy’s 96 year old Aunt Okie…
(her own writing blog is at Poems By Okie, 96 and Still Writing )
~
A positive perspective on “stages” of life, change and impermanence
Shifting out of thinking about what we may have “lost,”
and into an appreciation of what we DO have now…
a deep appreciation of what we have now
~
(Okie prefers her writing to be read from her own handwriting…
her “voice” comes through in the handwritten presentation.
There’s a typed copy below, for those reading on smaller screens
and the handwritten copy below that)

Perspectives on “change”…
A positive reminder for myself,
and perhaps helpful for others, too…
“a good life, even if I can’t jump over the brook”
appreciating what we have,
rather than what we may have “lost”
reminding ourselves….

Lovely. And she has lovely handwriting, too, as clear as her thoughtful writing.

I agree….I’m learning so much from Okie’s writing…deep lessons that we’ll all need to learn, at some point, if we’re fortunate enough to live such a long life.

I’ll tell her. I think it’s so helpful to learn from people who have already learned, or are learning, those lessons we’ll all need to learn at some point. It’s special that she’s writing about these ideas.
