An Irish Blessing….may the road rise to meet you…

An Irish Blessing…

Irish Blessing May the road rise to meet you Lincoln Woods

An Irish Blessing…
on the background of the Lincoln Woods…
where my great grandparents and grandparents immigrated to…
where my father was born and grew up…where I grew up…
surrounded by the beautiful mountains,
the few roads,
the fields in the one flat valley where the little town was built,
the open field and mountains that my home look out upon,
the winds, the sunshine, the rains,
generations of love, loyalty and appreciation…
An Irish Blessing

The 7 Brothers and 1 Sister arrived in Lincoln in the early 1900’s,
the family having immigrated from Ireland to Canada,
and then finding their way to New Hampshire…
7 Courageous Brothers… 1 Very Brave and Independent Sister

Irish Blessing May the road rise to meet you... 7 Brothers 1 Sister

“Seven Brothers”…”Little Sister”…
now the names of chairlifts at Loon Mountain,
a local ski area built in the 1960’s…
named after those 7 brothers and 1 sister
Whoever would have imagined such a thing?!?!?!?
Thoughts of them lingering on….in those woods, hills and valleys,
long after they’ve gone…

Lincoln Woods, Loon Mountain chairlifts

So thankful for the courage, hard work and determination
of those 7 brothers and 1 sisters…
and for the many relatives who came after…
a blessing indeed…
thank you 7 brothers and 1 sister…
thank you especially to one of those 7 brothers, my grandfather…
and loving thanks to one of his sons, my father….
thank you so much…

Irish Blessing May the road rise to meet you... 7 brothers... 1 sister~

Extending this Irish Blessing …
to the past, present and future generations of ALL families on Earth,
whenever and wherever they may have lived…
wherever they may live now and in the future…

Irish Blessing May the road rise to meet you

Expanding those Irish Blessings…
to universal wishes of “loving kindness”…
“May you feel loved and cherished,
May you feel happy and contented,
May you feel healthy and strong,
May you feel safe and protected,
May you live your lives with ease….”
A Universal Blessing

Loving kindness wishes

Lovely family history. So nice that the Seven brothers and one sister will never be forgotten.

  2. Yes….. they were special people…hard working, humble and loyal…and loved those woods, too.

  3. It’s one of my favourite blessings and the White Mountains hold many camping memories for me. I love your “May you live your life with ease”. That, in itself, is a wondrous blessing. Happy St. Paddy’s Day.

  4. I just love the White Mountains… the mountains, trees, mosses, rivers, sky, clouds…all of it! Lincoln is on the west end of the Kancamagus Highway…bordering the southern mountains in the Franconia Range. Where did you camp in the White Mountains?…they’re all beautiful.
And yes…”may you live your life with ease…”…a special blessing. Happy St. Paddy’s Day to you, too.

Lovely, Kathy. My ex is Irish and I was introduced to the Irish culture through him. I found it lively, colorful and intriguing. πŸ˜€

Great post and oozing authenticity, I liked the way that it allowed me to spare a moment of time reflecting upon my own historical Celtic DNA, big thank you for sharing, sincere regards, Barry
