An Irish blessing….

An Irish blessing….a long ago gift from my aunt, a blessing that hangs above the bed, nestled warmly into a scarf, resting upon a textured tapestry of comfort…extending the wishes and blessings to all…loving kindness wishes….combining multiple traditions, numerous cultures, universal wishes…
May we all feel…
happy and contented,
healthy and strong,
safe and protected
and living with ease…
~
May the road rise to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face
The rains fall soft upon your fields
And until we meet again
May God hold you in the palm of his hand

this is one of my favourite blessings of all time.
mine, too….such lovely wishes in there…and passing them along amongst us all…
Very touching, Kathy. A happy St. Patrick’s Day to you!
Peter
thank you Peter….and heartfelt wishes to both you and Julie for many more years of Irish eyes smiling at and along with you…(Peter is my husband, Julie our daughter : ) ) Happy St Patrick’s Day…may the luck of the Irish be with you….
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! May the luck of the Irish also be with you. 🙂
Thanks Marie… spreading the luck around : )
I had heard this before but
never knew it was an irish blessing… happy patty’ day to you (~_~)
And a happy day to you too!
“On Eagles Wings” is a contemporary piece of Christian music that repeats the last line. I love it. ♪♫ Josh Groban sings it. The song and lyrics are available on youtube.
Hi Georgette….what a beautiful song. I just listened to it on youtube…it’s very special. It’s a comforting thought…to be held in the palm of the hand.
Lovely post! hope your St. Patrick’s Day was a joy and lots of fun
We had a really enjoyable day!…hope you did too!
Aye . . . the Irish have a wee way with words! Love this.
My other favorites:
*Count your joys instead of your woes. Count your friends instead of your foes. ~ Irish Proverb
*Dance as if no one is watching, sing as if no one is listening; and live as if each day were your last! ~ Irish Proverb
A wee way with words, indeed….wonderful quotes you added there…I was reminded of the wind at your back one from the post on your blog…thanks! (for anyone who may not have seen that post…here’s a link http://nrhatch.wordpress.com/2012/03/17/top-o-the-morning-to-you/ )
To live within the terms of this famous Irish Blessing would be truly magical, walking and flying with “The Little People”, don’t you know?
speaking of “the little people”…there’s one on this linked page…a wee one indeed… : ) http://pocketperspectives.wordpress.com/2011/05/04/a-wee-break-from-worry/
