Ah ha! The mouse got the cheese! …with the help of others!

~

Ah ha! It’s such a  special sense of “accomplishment” when we complete a difficult task or undertaking!  Wow!   Simply amazing!

Being able to accomplish a difficult task might feel similar to the mouse from the children’s song  “The Farmer in the Dell”

~

It’s such a special sense to try hard at a difficult task, to be persistent, to keep going and not give up…..and to be able to accomplish or complete whatever it may be…. such a special sense!

“Ah ha…the mouse GOT the cheese!”

~

Fantastic!
The mouse DID  get that cheese!

But… to keep in mind…
the mouse getting that yummy cheese
would NOT  have happened without the help of the many others who lived in that Dell….

~

~

As I think about it…and as I ponder that idea…..

After I successfully complete a difficult endeavor,
at first there’s that strong sense of   “I”   did that!
And, of course,  “I”  did….and that’s wonderful!

But there’s far more to it than just the “I”….
far, far more….

~

~

To be sure to keep this idea in mind….

We’re part of a larger, life-long community of people who have nurtured us, helped us, encouraged us, supported us, contributed to our well being….some people we’ve known, millions of people we haven’t personally “known,” but we’ve received tremendous ongoing benefit and help from them….

~

Perhaps, to  balance these 2 perspectives…
“I”   and  “us”

Recognizing the need to apply personal motivation, intention, effort and action
toward accomplishing any goal

~

~

But also…
nurturing a deep awareness  and appreciation for being  part of a  vast, generous “whole”
an appreciation for the incredible generosity in the midst of that “whole,”
an appreciation of  the incredible power and beauty of interdependence!

~

That mouse DID get the cheese….
but it wouldn’t have happened
without the kindness and contribution of others

~

~

It sure DOES feel  so good to successfully complete a difficult or challenging task…it’s such a positive feeling of accomplishment!

~

~

But to be sure to keep in mind,
the amazing support, nurturing, kindness  and connections
among us all!
How AMAZING!

This is great, Kathy! And just what I needed today. I’m feeling stuck, but it’s good to remember to persevere and to be thankful for all the people who have my back. 😀

  2. Happy to hear the ideas might be helpful. I guess it’s opening and expanding out into an awareness of a much larger context! Robin, I bet you’re not stuck on “everything”…maybe open to the awareness of, and appreciation for, the many (!!!) aspects or areas of life where you aren’t stuck? I bet there are tons of those! I bet the mouse is getting lots of cheese, just not that particular piece you’re wanting right now? 😀

Yes, our society gives us so many messages about competition and independence, when really it’s not like that at all.

This upcoming week, my hubby will be away, and I will undertake the task of organizing and deep cleaning after having an estate sale of my mom’s and his mom’s things … the stuff has collected over 6 months, and we were to the point of not being able to move throughout the house. Needless to say, now I have to deal with the remnants of disorganization, the accumulated dust and fur!! I know I will feel so much better, lighter, and “proud” at the end!! 😀

Thank you for being a part of the Nurturing Thursday community! ❤
