“Foundations of Well-Being” Rick Hanson’s 12 month online workshop for nurturing your sense of well being

If you plant and nurture enough flowers in the garden that is your life,
you won’t have to worry about “weeds”….
the “weeds” won’t grow….
and there won’t be “weeds” to pull!

Ā

I’ve taken lots of workshops from Rick Hanson and every single workshop has been wonderful!Ā  I’ve learned so much in all of his workshops and have become so much more kind, compassionate and understanding with myself and others through what I’ve learned.

RickĀ  has organized this 12 month onlineĀ  program called Foundations of Well-Being…..a program for nurturing a broad sense of well being in the participants!

Foundations of Well Being...why offering this class~

~

Many years ago,Ā  I heard Rick use the phrase “Plant flowers, Pull Weeds” …I created the flower image to remember it!Ā  It’s a phrase and image that has continued to resonate in me and has motivated me in nurturing my own sense of well being.

I just looked back into the Pocket Perspectives “archives” and see that I posted “Plant Flowers, Pull Weeds”Ā  on the second day of this blog, April 4, 2011!Ā  (Oh, I see that Piles of Smiles, 4/3/2011, was the very first post on Pocket Perspectives! More “flowers” in the form of smiles!Ā  šŸ™‚ )

~

As I wrote in the beginning of this post:

If you plant and nurture enough flowers in the garden that is your life,
you won’t have to worry about “weeds”….
the “weeds” won’t grow….
and there won’t be “weeds” to pull!

~

Plant Flowers, Pull Weeds, plant enough flowers and weeds won't be a problem

~

I encourage readers of this blog to go to The Foundation of Well-Being websiteĀ  and see if this might be a workshop that could contribute to nurturing your own sense of well-being, too!

Plant Flowers nurturing thursday nurture yourself

Hmmmmm…. nurturing a sense of well being….planting flowers….the song “You belong among the wildflowers.” Ā  I especially love wildflowers!! Ā  But…ummmm…I just thought of this.Ā  Wildflowers might be considered “weeds” by some people.Ā  I’m gonna have to think more about this!Ā  There’s a message there, but I’m not quite catching what it might be!

    • Well… I figure that Rick is wonderful….and I’ve been to workshops with a number of the presenters or read their books…and they’re excellent too…so I figured it’s worth a try! And I like the monthly areas of focus too! So, I’ll nurture myself by giving it a try! šŸ™‚
(ps…as usual, I created and added a few more images to the post, after it was “published”… those little unexpected “wild flowers” just seem to love to pop up unexpectedly! šŸ™‚ I’m a wildflower person! šŸ™‚ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Jr3uKOzNaw )

    • ps…. Joss, if you or any others do sign up for this workshop, perhaps an “interest group” might form….nurturing each other, especially in the areas of the monthly topics and activities of that workshop?

    • Joss, in case you’re considering signing up I had emailed the Foundations of Well Being website/office to ask about “group” discounts they mentioned in the website. They emailed back that there is a 50 dollar discount for those who are part of a group of 5 or more. I got the impression that we can do that. If you register, use the code of FWBGROUP. ( I think that others who are reading this on Pocket Perspectives and who want to sign up for that Well-Being program can also use that code FWBGROUP for a discount, too.)
I didn’t realize this, and actually prefer not to get it, but they also wrote that there is a discount of some type, called the Affiliate Program, if someone writes to tell people about the Foundation of Well Being course in one’s website or blog.

            • Wonderful! šŸ™‚ I couldn’t access/get into the Well-Being site on Tuesday evening, and was busy much of Wednesday… I started volunteering/helping out in a class teaching beginning English to refugees from other countries. I was helping some delightful, warm-hearted women who have immigrated from Eritrea, Ethiopia and Yemen. How remarkably resilient people can be!
I’ll get started soon (maybe today?) with the Well-Being class…keep me posted???

              • for sure. I have to say that having been in France for a year I’ve developed a whole new appreciation for people who immigrate to a country where the language spoken is not their own and where everything is different from what they’ve known their whole life. It takes a lot of courage to keep going day after day and make a life for yourself without always feeling you are a stranger in a strange land.

This workshop seems great, I’ll have a look. Your quote is lovely. I have a similar quote “if your head is empty, bad stuff will rent the space” I always say this for my kids, so they keep busy studying.

    • You’re very welcome…I love Nurturing Thursdays! Isn’t nurturing and being nurtured so replenishing? I was just listening with delight to a youtube of Patti Page singing Mockingbird Hill…. birds, flowers, nature, music and me! …truly nurtured! šŸ™‚

PS…oh my goodness…the youtube just embedded in the comment box! I can’t seem to do that when I WANT to do that…and now…voila…it appears.. guess it’s “mystery’s plan” šŸ™‚

I got the emails about this and really wanted to do it, but the price is out my range right now with all that keeps falling apart at the Wabi-Sabi Ranch. It’s not that I couldn’t manage it, but that I’d feel guilty doing so. Terrible reason not to, I know. I may have to rethink this, and rearrange the budget.

    • Hi Robin, I just emailed that Foundations website’s main email address and asked about the “group discounts” that they mentioned….explaining how the Nurturing Thursday bloggers, and bloggers like you (who are constantly nurturing your own readers! ), would probably be able to share the warmth, ideas and insights they gain from the program with others who come to our blogs… maybe there could be discounts for groups smaller than 5 people? I figure it’s worth a try! I’ll let you know!

Robin, I loved your post today…I love those morning glories and the sense of magic! http://breezesatdawn.wordpress.com/2014/10/04/rainy-morning-purples/
