I recently read about a potentially effective way to look at “worrying”…
(from The Worry Solution, by Dr. Martin Rossman )
to simply consider whether I CAN do something about a situation or problem…
and if I CAN, to create strategies to work on solving the problem
OR…
to realize when I really CAN’T change what I consider problematic…
that, perhaps, there’s nothing I can actually DO…
and then, to try to learn “acceptance”
~
So…I tried to put that idea into a simple, visual format…
to help me keep that “conscious choice” in mind…
“yes, I might be able to do something”
or
“no, there’s probably nothing I can do”
~
~
Sometimes there might be nothing I can do to change a situation…
(I like to “fix” things…and I love everyone to feel happy, harmonious and content…
so this is a difficult realization for me)
~
But…
sometimes, there are, or at least MIGHT BE,
solutions to problems…
whether in myself, with other people, in situations, fixing house problems…
to brainstorm potentially effective strategies and steps for solving…
~
~
And so…
noticing when I’m worrying…
stopping,
considering whether I CAN do anything about this “worry” or “concern”….
if not, to learn to accept…
if “yes,”…. to strategize and take steps toward a solution…
making better conscious choices
choices that might support more happiness in both others and myself…
~
~
easy as that….
such simple choices…
I wonder why it seems so hard to do this in everyday life????
maybe it’s a matter of habit and practice?
okay…
practice time ahead…
~
“can I do anything about this?”

When we learn to accept the things we cannot change, we have more energy to change the things we can.
