“Arise, abide, dissolve…..” ….the progression of thoughts and feelings

The progression of
thoughts…feelings…reactions
days, seasons, life
they arise…
they abide for awhile…
they dissolve,
an ongoing process of change
an ongoing flow

thoughts…feelings…reactions,
the “comings” and “goings” in our lives,
a bit like clouds…
arising….abiding…dissipating

And so…to have faith in…
and trust that…
feeling and emotions,
whether they feel “good” or uncomfortable,
they have a progression…
they can be gently watched,
they can be patiently  “accepted,”
they can be understood or perhaps “worked with,”
there can be increasing awareness,
thoughts, feelings, reactions,
days, months, years
arise…abide…dissolve

feelings and emotions arise abide dissolve progression

Another happy note:  Ahhhhhhh…. 🙂 ….. speaking of the “comings and goings” in life..this Sunday, my husband Peter and I will be joining a  kind and wonderful, small group of people for a 2 1/2  week trip to Ireland… land of ancient legends, gentle and soothing spirits, magical music, the lush and healing greens of nature and beautiful light.  I might be able to post from Ireland, but I might not…we’ll see. We’ll be visiting southwest Ireland… enjoying Celtic sites, Irish hospitality,  beautiful vistas and Irish music… we’re so happy to be joining this lovely group and spending time there. May my own Irish eyes and tender Irish heart  soon be smiling again… 😀

“When Irish Eyes Are Smiling, sure ’tis like a morn in spring.
In the lilt of Irish laughter, you can hear the angels sing.
When Irish hearts are happy, all the world seems bright and gay,
And When Irish Eyes Are Smiling, sure, they steal your heart away”

arise, abide, dissolve…..oh what a beautiful and new way for me to look at life. I really love this. As you journey to Ireland, take a piece of my wee heart with you. My ancestors hailed from county cork—oh DO give it a wave from me!! and if you are near the sea in Ireland—throw a stone or shell in the sea from me!! hugs–kate

    • I hope the ideas are helpful. We just took our daughter to the airport for her flight back to her own “home”… and realized that another way of thinking of the “arise…abide…dissolve” progression might be ….”the coming..the here awhile…and the going…”…the “comings and goings” of life… seems to be a universal dynamic…
My father’s family is also from Ireland… Ireland has a very special spot in my heart.. I’ll be sure to throw a stone or shell into the sea for you and wish you well as I do that! 🙂

  3. arise, abide, dissolve – These are three very strong and powerful words to guide us. Geat description. Thank you for posting it.
Enjoy your fabulous vacation. Ireland a wonderful place to visit, I’m sure. My best friend when I growing up was Irish. Her family were recent immigrants. They had the strong Irish brogue, a son who was a priest, a daughter who was a nun and my friend. They were happy joyful people.
Hope your vacation is filled with lots of good friends and lovely memories.
    Happy Traveling …..
