Some very favorite “pages”….
with the words from the wonderful Louis Schwartzberg TED video, “Gratitude”
~
“today,
it’s given to us,
it’s a gift…
it’s the only gift we have right now…
and the only appropriate response is gratitude.”
“to open our hearts to all of these blessings”
~
A wish for today….a wish for us all….

The video…“Gratitude”
my favorite section begins at 4:44 into the video
~
A transcript of that favorite section of the video
~
“Let the gratefulness overflow into blessings all around you.
And then it would be a very good day.”
~
“today,
it’s given to us,
it’s a gift…
it’s the only gift we have right now…
and the only appropriate response is gratitude.”

Added on Saturday, 11/24: I just found out, just this very minute, that the text and narration of the part of the Gratitude video that I typed up are by Brother David Keindl-Rast, a highly respected author and spiritual leader….a Benedictine monk who has been so important in bringing attention to the importance of gratitude in people’s lives. (Br. David with the DalaiLama and other links.) I’ll embed the video, A Good Day, here…
“A Good Day”

Wow, this pulled me into a depth of gratitude. The message that touched me the most is “you think it’s just another day in your life, it’s not just another day, it’s the one day that is given to you today… it’s given to you… it’s a gift.” The graphics, the punctuation gave a voice and depth to this message. It’s the truth, everyday is a gift. Thank you!~ And have a Happy Thanksgiving! 🙂

We enjoyed the gift of today ~ a walk on the beach, admiring the blue sky, watching the parade, eating yummy food, going for a bike ride, talking to family, inviting a friend over, petting the cat, eating more yummy food, and PIE!
Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy the ideas are being shared. I read somewhere… that TED video is the most viewed of all the TED video series…such wonderful photographs, music and ideas in it!
I love the words from that 4:44 part of the Gratitude video… there were 5 of us for Thanksgiving dinner last evening…I divided the selection into 5 sections and printed out each section on that background…each of us read one section…such insightful and appreciative ideas shared amongst us… : )

I agree…it’s so powerful. I actually had it on my iphone and would listen to that part that I liked each morning…to set a sense of awareness, gratitude and appreciation. I just found out, a few minutes ago, that the text and voice of that selection was by Brother David Steindl-Rast, a well known Benedictine monk who speaks and writes a lot on “gratitude”…what a wonderful surprise that is! I added a shorter video of the text…it’s called “A Good Day….” to the bottom of this post… what beautiful words and what a loving, appreciative and nurturing voice he has… (I’m sooooo happy to find out that’s his voice in the video, and not an actor’s voice…what a wonderful and happy surprise that is!…all these months of listening and loving that voice and not realizing it was such a special person!…I think he wrote it too, but I’m not certain…)

I came back to read this post and listened to the Gratitude video. So grateful it was closed captioned as I got to truly enjoy the message. Thank you for sharing this.

Marie, I didn’t realize until last week that the video is closed captioned…my daughter J. told me and I was so surprised! I wonder if it was closed captioned all along? To get the transcript, I had listened, paused, typed…over and over again…how much simpler it would have been to have noticed closed captioning! ? But the ideas are so wonderful that by doing that I probably took in the ideas even more deeply. And what a wonderful surprise to find out that the writer and narrator was/is Brother David Keindl-Rast, a remarkable person. I’m so happy that you got to follow along with the text and images….isn’t it so special?
And Marie, I think I’m signing up for this workshop…. a leap of faith in goodness, kindness, love and possibility….and finding more confidence and self direction….very pricey, but looks like it might be “good”… http://www.noetic.org/events/2012/12/the-holographic-butterfly/ and http://www.regonline.com/builder/site/Default.aspx?EventID=1084275
