An addition to the “Starbuck and Julie household”…Riley…the new rescued kitty…arrived ten days ago…ten days of transition….leading to last night’s
“Starbuck and Riley Moment”
~
Starbuck, with the gold collar-fur, arrived in Julie’s life, 2 years ago, on November 2, 2010… an abandoned, sick, hungry, timid, flea ridden kitty…meowing outside Julie’s window on a cold Washington evening….and was enticed inside, settling happily into Julie’s little “home sweet home”
~
And now…
Julie (Kathy’s daughter)
has rescued and adopted another kitty…
and brought it home…
into Starbuck’s own
“home sweet home”
~
Starbuck has been aloof and watchful…
seeming to play the role of “The Grande Dame”
Riley, the new kitty,
(they think he’s about 2 years old, but he acts more like a kitten)
has been curious, playful and trying to interact,
but has been mostly ignored, by Starbuck, for many of those days
~
~
But, last night…
exactly 2 years, to evening…
the anniversary of Starbuck meowing at the window….
and being enticed inside by Julie,
Starbuck and Riley decided to snuggle…
warmth, affection, connection
a new life, a new home, new relationships
home sweet home

How’s this for interesting timing?

I’m so happy that the two kitties are getting along…one never knows whether that will happen. Both kitties are very precious, so now they’re precious with each other too. And the timing does seem like a bit of magic, too.

it’s not always easy for one cat to accept another but these two are doing so well. What a blessing.

That’s very significant, that on Starbuck’s anniversary love started to bond these two precious cats, The story and photos made me smile and pulled at my heartstrings. 🙂

Wonderful. This confirms the warmth and compassion of Julie in giving a home to these nice cats.

Ah ha….Julie must have a kind and loving father who encouraged such a sense of warmth, compassion and nurturing?…and a father who also encouraged independent thinking and confidence that, perhaps, lead to her going ahead and getting Riley, in spite of her mother recommending not doing so? 😀 (Peter is Julie’s dad, Kathy’s husband…)

Awww… how cute! And wonderful that it happened on the anniversary of Starbuck’s rescue! My kitties used to snuggle like that, but then they grew into teenagers and now they hiss at each other as if they’re strangers rather than sisters. Maybe they’ll go back to snuggling again once it gets cold. 🙂

Aren’t they special? And isn’t that anniversary timing amazing too. Julie called the other night on facetime…she wanted us to watch Riley and Starbuck gently grooming each other…as sweetly and carefully as could be, for at least 10 minutes…what a wonderful sight that was. I hope your kitties get over their hissy-ness and get back to snuggles too. Cats are really something!
