“Listening and learning and yearning….run, river, run….”

“Watching the River Run”
such a beautiful song…
the words, the melody, the harmonies
following the flow of a river
the flow of relationships
the flow of discovery
the flow of the spirit
the flow of life

~

And oh,
the joy of sitting by a river
listening….yearning…learning
run, river, run

~

Blessing to all the rivers I’ve sat beside,
all that I’ve learned,
all the comfort I’ve received,
all the joy that I’ve felt,
the joys and wisdom
of a river

“Watching the River Run”
Loggins and Messina

If you’ve been thinking you’re all that you’ve got,
Then don’t feel alone anymore.
When we’re together, then you’ve got a lot,
‘Cause I am the river and you are the shore.

And it goes on and on, oh, watching the river run,
Further and further from things that we’ve done,
Leaving them one by one.
And we have just begun watching the river run.
Listening and learning and yearning.
Run, river, run.

Winding and swirling and dancing along,
We pass by the old willow tree
Where lovers caress as we sing of our song,
Rejoicing together when we greet the sea.

And it goes on and on, watching the river run,
Further and further from things that we’ve done,
Leaving them one by one.
And we have just begun watching the river run.
Listening and learning and yearning.
Run, river, run.

And it goes on and on, watching the river run,
Further and further from things that we’ve done,
Leaving them one by one.
And we have just begun watching the river run.
Listening and learning and yearning.
Run, river, run.

~

May we all find rivers to sit beside
rivers to flow with
rivers to live with
rivers to learn from
listening and learning and yearning,
run, river, run

  2. Thank you, Marie…we’ll be going to those exact spots in those photos for a few days…in the high country of Yosemite…I’m so looking forward to being on a river (and in high mountains)… I love rivers!…and especially that particular river…and another river in New Hampshire. And that song brings such a poignant sense of joy along with it. : )

    • thanks Nancy…lots of wisdom in that song…at least for me. Loggins and Messina had some good songs…this was my favorite. And I just thought of another one…”The House at Pooh Corner”…. I googled that and see that the house was being built for Eeyore! (wikipedia….”The title comes from a story in which Winnie-the-Pooh and Piglet build a house for Eeyore”)

    Beautiful, Kathy. Thank you. 🙂

I had the opportunity to visit Yosemite once for a little over 24 hours. I got just enough of a taste that I want to go back someday.

    • Oh, you’re welcome Robin. We were in the “high country” of Yosemite….at around 8500 ft altitude…the Tuolumne River/Meadows area….it’s absolutely beautiful up there! wide open spaces, huge cliffs and mountains, rivers, stunning beauty! Many people don’t go up to that area and miss out on stunning scenery, cliffs, meadows and rivers! (thankfully, the bears weren’t around!)
