The idea,
“don’t go through life, grow through life”
is similar to the ideas expressed in a previous post
“a more caring, understanding human family”
a quote from the DalaiLama
using that same “interdependence” rainforest background image
~
The words on the image were spoken by Eric Butterworth,
a highly respected, senior minister in the Unity Church
The quote was included in an insightful post
on Eric Winger’s blog, Give Our Life
“Don’t go through life Grow through life”
You might want to take a look at the real life experience
a volunteer project
“pulling up invasive plants in the forest”
it’s special

As he says….

I think this is such a helpful perspective to keep in one’s mind
I think we’re always
growing…changing…shifting
so, to be sure to stay aware
to choose a positive direction of growth
and to realize that we’re leaving a legacy
hopefully, as Eric writes,
the gifts of
“the wisdom, love and knowledge that we’ve learned “
~
And so…
thank you Eric
for sharing this special reminder quote
“Don’t go through life. Grow through life”
~

from a comment at the end of this post
a good phrase to begin our ideas with…
“as I grow through life………………………..”
~
That which does not grown stagnates and dies! All the elders on the farm of my childhood home always told us this! And they definitely meant it to apply to us granchildren!

What wise elders you had…passing along such important wisdom to you and the other grandchildren!…I’m guessing that you’re continuing that legacy….actually, I’m quite certain, based on your posts, that you are…. : )

it’s a wonderful bit of wisdom, isn’t it? I’m going to remember it and use it in my vocabulary as in “as I grow through life….”.

Very nicely framed, Kathy. May we all never cease to grow to become the people we’re capable of being.
Take care,

Thanks for being willing to share your ideas… lots of people really related to and appreciated it.
And Eric, oh noooo….tell me you didn’t just write/offer up another memorable piece of wisdom in your comment??? How do you do that????…What a wonderful aspiration that suggestion is….and I like that the word “all” is nestled in there…an inclusive community/human family aspiration, not just a personal one. Warm regards to you, Kathy

Isn’t that a wonderful “context” for living one’s life?
The full post that Eric wrote contain more context for that quote…he really can express his ideas well. I’m a bit like a raccoon…very curious, so seem to find lots of interesting ideas written by others. I linked Janet to several in another post…I’ll link you later to those…gotta go out now.

Kathy, Can I user your photo with Eric’s quote to share in my “Love Is The Answer” page? I get fans attention more when I share photos with quotes than links to posts or videos.

Hi Marie, I googled the phrase last night and see that there is a source for it…perhaps I can add it to that photo….I was also thinking of changing the fonts to large for “go” and “grow”….and I might change it to “don’t just go through life, grow though life”….that idea really adds an important context to how we live. I’ve noticed that people don’t click on links or videos here at PP too… that’s why I sometimes will do a copy/paste of what I consider insightful words and put them on a background…people seem to pause a bit for those. I’m going out for the day so can add the source later….

I would hope that everyone grows as they age–it’s our purpose, I think, to gain wisdom.

Well, the way I’m starting to “see” things, if by a certain point, one doesn’t transform life’s experiences into wisdom….well…it could be a slippery downhill slope….and so, developing “wisdom” it is….as much as we’re able…

Kathy, My beautiful page in facebook was disabled by Facebook management because I didn’t add my full name and date of birth. Wish they had warned me first as I have over 2,000 fans and worked hard on the page to bring inspiration. However, this is a wonderful lesson on attachment for me and on balance, and I think I passed the test as I am pretty calm, just doing what needs to be done to reinstate my account.

Hi Marie, I added an image (at the top ) that has the name of the person who said it…Eric Butterworth, a minister in the Unity Church. I was just reading about him…sounds like an very special man who had deep sense of purpose in his life. Maya Angelou referred to him as her “teacher”…she was quoted as saying, “He has been, is now and shall forever be my teacher” …wow! http://ericbutterworth.org/html/eric_bio.html And this is special too http://ericbutterworth.org/html/gift.html
ps…is your facebook page back????
