Going into situations with an open and flexible mind….

I received that bit of advice a few years ago….

to not focus on what might happen that could be negative,
but to instead realize that there is always the potential for positive…
and to nurture, develop and use
an open and flexible mind…

~

I’ve actually followed this advice a few times during  this past week…..meetings that I didn’t want to go to, interactions I was concerned about, tasks that I was avoiding…but I decided to go into each one looking for what could be, at least might be,  positive…and oddly enough….every one of the situations turned out positive, helpful and enjoyable…that positive potential, which is probably present in every situation, manifested in such wonderful ways…

And so….
the precious importance
of learning to live
with an open and flexible mind….
ohhhhh, that sounds sooooo good….
I’m  making a deep and fervent wish
that I’ll be able to do that more often…
and for all of us….to be able to do that, too….

I like the way this message was presented because it’s another way of getting the mind to realize that instead of looking for a negative, even if it’s a task we may not want to do, there is always a potential for a positive. My s/o and I were just commenting yesterday, that we like to listen to the same Truth from different teachers because each teacher has their unique way of expressing it, without changing the core of the truth, and it sometimes becomes much clearer for us. I needed to read this, so thank you~ 🙂

    • I’ve also been noticing that hearing or reading messages from different teachers or authors is helpful….still the basic truths, but different ways or language for explaining ideas. And yes, that potential for positive is there…and to be open to it. This is the flip side of having “a wee bit less worry”

  7. It’s difficult for me too…but I’m practicing..I tell the kids I teach that practice is the way the brain learns, through repetition, again and again…so I’m trying to live by those words…to learn to practice and remind myself, again and again, to keep a perspective of the positive potential in each situation or interaction…kind of like that youtube video…”In every moment, the potential is here….” as you say that practice and shift seems to be easier said than done. It’s nice to know others are trying this too…camaraderie and all…thank you.
