Ah ha!….the mouse got the cheese!

Ah ha! ….it’s such a  special sense of “accomplishment”… when one completes a difficult task or undertaking…

….similar to the mouse from the children’s song  “The Farmer in the Dell”….

~

It’s such a special sense to try hard at a difficult task or endeavor, to be persistent, to keep going and not give up…..and to be able to accomplish or complete whatever it may be….such a special sense….

“Ah ha…the mouse GOT the cheese!”

~

And, the mouse?….the mouse DID  get that cheese…but… to keep in mind…that would NOT  have happened without the help of the others who lived in the dell….

~

As I think about it…and as I ponder that idea…..

after I successfully complete a difficult endeavor…
at first there’s that strong sense of  “I” did that…
and, of course,  “I” did….
but there’s far more to it than just the “I”….far, far more….

~

~

And so….to be sure to keep this idea in mind….we’re part of a larger, life-long community of people who have nurtured us, helped us, encouraged us, supported us, contributed to our well being….some we’ve known, millions we haven’t known, but have received benefit from them….

~

And so to balance these 2 perspectives…
deep appreciation of  being  part of a larger “whole,”
of the beauty of interdependence,
but still recognizing the need to apply personal motivation and intention
to work toward accomplishing….

~

~

and so ….the mouse DID get the cheese….

~

~

But, philosophical issues aside…it feels so good to successfully complete a difficult or challenging task…it feels so good!

  3. I’m scampering through another semester. Nicely, I have already taught the two courses. But those creative juices keep flowing, and things always need tweaking for the delicious journey and end.

    • I love your idea of “scampering” along each day…….and keeping in mind that delicious morsel of cheese at the end… (but…whoops….avoiding the cheese in the mouse trap, I guess??….oh no…terrible thought!…avoiding impulsive quick solutions, perhaps?? 🙄 )

      • Ah ha! I got them! As I scampered to the mailbox, there they were… six joyful transparencies of wisdom…made by you. Thank you. Where are they? In the kitchen window catching that western sun. Love, love them. I will send you stamps to reimburse the handling and mailing. OK?

        • Oh Georgette, I’m so happy that you received them and like them…I had a slight confidence problem about the colors and cutting when thinking of sending them….but I just let it pass and put a few extras into each person’s envelopes…I’m so pleased that you like them and are enjoying them in your window. Thank you for letting me know…it’s fine if you reimburse for sending them….but there’s no need. Whichever you prefer is fine….ps..I love looking at them in my windows too… : ) And oh, I put that “no more phone calls ” one in there with a wink of the eye…a mother’s wink…. 🙄

This was perfect for me too today, and made me smile!
It’s true, we are not alone, we are all dependent on others in some way for encouragement, praise, support, etc. Our blogs would be nothing without the inter-action of our blogging buddies, and we wouldn’t have a blog if we didn’t have an idea. We all need each other to finally get that piece of cheese – which I got recently when I accomplished a long and difficult task – and boy, it felt so gooood!

“I’m amazed by the kindness and support amongst bloggers…so special ” – I’ll second that sentiment totally, including you muchly!

On a different note, not much real cheese around our house these days, I’m the only one that eats it. I’m goign to TRY tempting them with toasted cheese and tomato one day.

And cheese?….isn’t it interesting that a food that is a staple and considered appealing in one culture might be less familiar or less appealing in another?…ah, toasted cheese and tomato…that sounds soooo good to me right now!

This is a most charming way to present the idea that all of our actions, whether positive or negative, are part of a vast universal chain stretching infinitely throughout all time, both into the distant past and forward into the unending future. These are the very types of connections I strive to promote in my current adult fairytale/allegorical poetry series at http://granbee.wordpress.com Bless you for the charm and eternal truth in this post today.

    • thank you so much…… I’ve found that images/symbols/fairytales/fables are all very effective, symbol laden “back doors”, or maybe “front doors,” to the mind….a good alternative to straightforward text for many. I appreciate your ideas….thank you.
