Leaping….with courage, strength, curiosity and enthusiasm….

I created this “Happy New Year” page yesterday, December 31, using a photo from the previous post’s polar bear collage….

When I looked at the photo and those words this morning,
I wondered…..
“Where did that enthusiastic positive energy come from?  Was that from me?”
I used to be more like that….
filled with those qualities and living my life with more “zest”
but with years, experience, trials and time, I mellowed…
lots of extended family and work responsibilities…
mostly wonderful, but consuming…
becoming more balanced,
quieter, more subdued, more pensive….
often just peeking around corners at life…
wondering if I’d lost that enthusiasm or if it just lay dormant….

Well, that page whispers to me….
“it must still be there….”
waiting…lurking….perhaps even ready…
to once again start to take leaps…
leaping into life….
with courage, strength, curiosity and enthusiasm….

~

And so….here it is…
May all of us who might want to engage more deeply
and with more enthusiasm in life
develop the intention, courage and strength to do so….

Trusting our hearts and minds
to take those leaps…

~

  1. “I used to be more like that….” and you still are. I think the world wishes and yearns for a quieter, gentler response. And look how folks are responding to your messages that come from viable experience and wisdom. You’re doing it my friend, very well. “I will win. Why? Because I have faith, courage and enthusiasm” is my husband’s screensaver. I just had to read this several times, and was amazed at the similarity. Another, wonderful post.

    • Georgette…thank you for your reassuring words… I really appreciate reading your perspectives…it gives me some “food for thought.” And isn’t that something to see how similar your husband’s screen saver is to the words on the leaping bear page…. really quite a nice coincidence…

i find your enthusiasm for life…like the sugar needed to make the medicine go down…as mary poppins prescribes…

never change…and hope this year…and all the ones thereafter…are filled with more blessings…than you can count… 🙂

Kathy, Life often changes and what seems to be a mellowing down, is often a different and higher focus, at least this is what I have found for myself. Thanks again for the daily inspiration we get from your posts.

    • Thank you Marie for those ideas….that may be part of my confusion….integrating the positive mellowing and changes from the past few yeas with older(well, actually younger) ways of approaching life… I’ll think more about that…thank you…. I’m so happy that ideas/pages I share might be helpful to others too….

      • I just read a comment by Art, from zendictive, in a comment about something Jampa wrote on Reflections….
“trimming the tree in order to grow stronger roots
rather than in length and width”
…that makes sense…maybe the trimming back is not being so active but rather deepening the roots of mellowing, settling, deepening?…maybe so… that sounds like the benefits of meditating too…

Just read the comments by Art in your other post, and a trimming back and deepening our roots makes us “active” in a different way such as I don’t have the need to socialize as I used to, but if it happens then I will enjoy it and have a great time. I guess it amounts to getting in the flow of whatever happens at the moment, but the “need” is no longer there for me even if I have good energy… My “need” these days is to deepen my roots. Thank you Kathy and Art for bringing more clarity to my own musings… 🙂

          • Isn’t it interesting how ideas and comments over a few days…from varying people…can lead to some insight and clarity… and I agree….deepening the roots is my need and focus, too…. I’m hoping I can combine that with more liveliness in life, but if they won’t work together…I’ll go for the roots..

Thanks, Kathy. It’s the QUALITY of our enthusiasm (not its QUANTITY) that matters. I had a terribly enthusiastic friend who ALWAYS leapt before she looked.

She landed in deep water on more than a few occasions. 😉

    • Well….I think it’s time for me to take more chances… I’m so reasonable that I probably won’t get myself into water that’s too deep…but if I do…well, I’ll just have to swim, I guess 🙄 ….but yes, you make a good point…quality matters… : )

“with curiosity”–I had not thought of that in my list of attitudes I wish to go forth into 2012 armed with. But you are so right: healthy, vibrant, lively curiosity is required to achieve connections and wisdom and learning from all around me this year.

    • “curiosity” is a major motivator for me… even if I’m hesitant, if i shift into “curiosity” that will often motivate me to take a chance… I love being curious! and I love the way you describe it… “healthy, vibrant, lively curiosity”… that’s wonderful!
