“Have faith that whatever you are offering to the world…”

This thought was written by happydancecat, Cat,  the writer of a wonderful blog that I had stumbled upon in July: “Year of Kindness.” The post is called “Today you are you,” and is well worth a read…

I was so inspired by what she is doing during her “year of kindness” and by her steady, quiet, courageous, persistence in offering to others…on that particular day that she wrote about,  she had been offering flowers to others and some people weren’t interesting in accepting…

I really was inspired by that entire post, but particularly by her last sentence….

“you have to have faith

that whatever you are offering to the world,

eventually someone will walk by

who accepts and appreciates it, completely and joyfully,

and there really is no better feeling. “

I took those words and put them onto a “page” (above), printed several copies  and taped the copies to the side of my computer monitor and on the window above the kitchen sink.

I frequently read those words to help remind myself …

and maybe we might all remind  ourselves…

not to concern ourselves about whether others

might recognize or accept what we might be offering in life…

but rather to rest in our positive motivation of giving or offering.

This is a timely message for me. Wow. I was just feeling a tad ignored about an act of kindness, and to get out of this attachment, I started singing off key an uplifiting made up song of love for the world, LOL, and it helped to raise my focus and open my heart. Thanks for this, its perfect. 🙂

    • Oh, that’s so special…making up a song…I do that sometimes too! Happy to help out…it’s Cat’s ideas….
I don’t know whether you’ve looked through the older posts in Reflections…it’s loaded with reminders and gentle encouragement about that same thing… to not be concerned about others’ reactions or lack of reactions, but to go back to the awareness of one’s own positive motivations and intentions…but I still think it’s kind of hard.

And also with a favorite Dr. Seuss rhyme:

      Today you are you!
      That is truer than true!
      There is no one alive
      Who is you-er than you!

      Shout loud . . .
“I am lucky to be what I am!
Thank goodness I’m not just a clam or a ham
Or a dusty old jar of sour gooseberry jam!

      I am what I am!
That’s a great thing to be!
      If I say so myself,
      HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!”

And I was just thinking earlier this morning about Doctor Seuss…about that “feelings post from yesterday…and how I really want to just get rid of sad or negative feelings”…and the thought of Green Eggs and Ham…. “I do not like them Sam I am!!!!” And also ….”Marvin K. Mooney, will you please go now! ” yup, sure resonates!
Doctor Seuss was, and continues to be…amazing!

I’ve been in one play in my life . . . the Grouch in Green Eggs & Ham!

I saw an audition notice for a local production of my favorite Dr. Seuss book, Green Eggs and Ham. I auditioned, got the part, and finally had my stage début . . . as the Grouch!

What fun! I danced and pranced while singing: “I would not like them in a house, I would not like them with a mouse, not in a box, not with a fox, not on a plane, not in a train, not in a tree, Sam Let Me Be!

I do NOT like Green Eggs and Ham . . . but I can ham it up on stage!

Okay…yes, I saw your post awhile ago and loved it! And as I was reading it…especially about the palette…Nancy, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that Dave and Jane were delighted when you would burst (not barge) through their door with your enthusiasm, individuality and exuberance…it was a gift that you offered to them! Please cherish that you were able to enrich their lives in that way! : )

Very nice words and thoughts. Sometimes we get discouraged in giving to the world when we don’t get immediate positive feedback. This is a good reminder to hold onto our intention and not focus on other people’s reactions…we have no control over them anyway.
